greenhouse backyard“My wife and I retired two years ago in North Carolina and our Portable Farm has been a great way to do something fun together. We love the great food we grow and we also like showing our farm to our kids and friends. Now they all want one too!” – Marc and Trisa C.

“Our two teenagers (a boy 17 and a girl 14) found out about Portable Farms and we built a farm in our backyard because they wanted to learn about aquaponics. Now it’s all talk about and all their friends come to our house now. It’s GREAT!” – The Upton Family

“We live in a cold climate and that means eating tomatoes that taste like cardboard about 8 months a year because they’re shipped in from somewhere. This past year, we built a Portable Farm and enjoyed eating fresh tomatoes – big red tasty – tomatoes all year. Just that is worth it for me.” – Herk W.

      Robert,

Tours are only available in Southern California by appointment. We, the company, are located in Virginia no longer offer tours. With 8 years of success and hundreds of installations around the world we no longer felt the need to offer tours at our headquarters. Those with Portable Farms installation who wish to offer tours advertise them on their own.

We wish you the best of luck.

We are a military family, we move about every 3 years or so. how portable and durable is your setup. would it be able to withstand the continual breakdown/set up? how much does it weigh? the army ships our stuff but only so much weight, I need to know how much to calculate if feasable in shipping cost to me. thank you for your time and reply.

    1. portfarms

      Brent,

We very much understand the frequent moving situation and how it affects many people. The PFAS Kit (the heart of the Portable Farms® Aquaponics Systems technology) is only 12″ x 12″ x 8″ (30cm x 30cm x 20cm) and weights approximately 16lbs (7kg). The building itself is logistically a challenge, however the Grow Tray Tables can be disassembled to be moved. One of our smaller PFAS Units was moved (as noted on website) twice and the second time they even took the gravel. We have sold and people have moved a number of the PFAS research installations and in most cases they left gravel behind and installed new gravel at the new site.

That said, the most effective way to ‘move’ is to sell the existing PFAS Unit and build a newer one at your new location. We trust this helps in some fashion.

Good luck in all of your endeavors and thank you for serving.

After the course and the initial 200sf module, how much are additional 200sf modules?

    Anthony,

The cost of each additional PFAS Kit, which will support up to 200 sf ft of Grow Table, is listed on the price list which is on the top of the right hand column on every page of the website. The PFAS Kits are exactly the same whether you use them for a 32 sq ft or a 200 sq ft Grow Table. They are all the commercial grade technology kits.
